The function is fine, though it is noise blocking, not cancelling. The spring that clamps it on the head is rather strong and is not adjustable. I can wear it over my glasses OK. Somebody with a large head might find it too tight. The length of the muff supports can be varied over about 1/2 inch but at its longest is only marginally long enough for me. I only use it for short periods so cannot comment on hours-long use. After using a riding mower on my wife's farm for several years it occurred to me I should wear ear protection because, unlike the quarter acre lot I'd grown up with, my exposure to possible hearing damage is now longer. I'd tried the earplugs you push and twist into your ear and found they barely reduced the level of sound at all, so I bought these. No earmuff type device is really comfortable. You feel the weight and also notice the clamping pressure that holds the domes over your ears and compresses the rubber gaskets that seal out the sound. Since mowing lawns is a summer thing, it's often hot outside and earmuffs also get sweaty and uncomfortable in other ways than hurting your ears from the clamping pressure. I'd known about this before buying them because I've used aviation headsets often since getting a pilot's license in 1989. (There are cloth boots designed to go over the gasket in aviation headsets that help a lot keeping the slick feeling away, and I will try them to see if they help.)But, while I rated them only a 4 for comfort, they are superb in noise suppression. It's like going into a soundproof room and closing the door when putting them on. The noise of the engine suddenly turns into a faraway murmur like a distant airplane, in fact, I think these suppress noise better than aviation headsets. While I was mowing, a crop duster swooped low over an adjoining field and I saw it but never heard it at all. So, if long term exposure to loud noises really causes your hearing to deteriorate, no question this device will keep your hearing sharp. (I'm a little skeptical about that, as both my parents became hearing challenged as senior citizens, even though they weren't exposed to unusually loud noises in their work.) Loud noise isn't as annoying if it's a steady background roar than if it's rhythmic like a rock concert, but after trying these earmuffs I realize that it's fatiguing to deal with loud noise. Even if it doesn't help protect my hearing, I'll go on using these because they add to comfort in a way I didn't expect.Another good feature is they adjust to different head sizes, and the adjustment is spring or bungee controlled with no screws to adjust even if different people use them. The manufacturer provides different colors to allow the individual to use a particular one every time, but except for possible sanitary considerations I don't think that's necessary. Just put it on your head, pulling the domes apart far enough and down low enough against the clamping and headband pressure to fit over your ears and you're done.Amazon's Basics Noise-Reduction Safety Earmuffs Ear Protection are doing an amazing job for me. I wear Bluetooth hearing aids, so when I mow the lawn (2 hours) I will play music through my phone/hearings aid. These Noise-Reduction Safety Earmuffs reduces almost all of the mower noise allowing me to enjoy the music. I would definitely buy again!I use these when I mow the lawn. I wear them over my airpods. I am able to hear my music at a resonable volume and it drowns out the lawn mower. They are basic head muffs. Not the smallest or most comfortable I’ve ever owned but they do a good job mitigating firearm noise. Bottom line, cost effective hearing protection. If I needed to wear hearing protection for long periods, these probably wouldn’t be my go to ear muffs. I would purchase again. They make a great extra pair for when uk you have a guest of twoThe quality of noise isolation is magnificent. Similar to how the AirPods Pro work but without running out of battery. Really comfortable, I love to combine them together with AirPods Pro to isolate all possible noises.Hey it’s good for only twelve bucks mangby far the best value
