TITUS 3 Series Onyx 37 Highest NRR 34dB Noise Reduction Safety Earmuffs for Shooting, Construction & Industrial Work - Hearing Protection for Loud Environments

Having worked in the aviation industry for years, work regularly with power tools, and spent a few years sharing an office with audiologists, I've very protective of my hearing. As I continually search for protection with the best protection I can find, I was pleased to find these muffs with a rated NRR of 37. Yes, I know the NRR is only an average of various frequencies but it is how we measure sound (unless one can find muffs that measure in Sones.) The 37 dB NRR will now replace my 34 dB NRR that have been my top suppressors. And yes, 3 dB does make a difference as decibels are on a logarithm scale and 3 dB is almost double the amount of sound pressure. (Not exact but close enough for government work.)These muffs are relatively comfortable and I purchased them to use with power tools and for shooting handguns ( I use both muffs and ear plugs for indoor ranges). For me, the cups would interfere with the stock of a long gun so I can't use them for that activity.I'm pleased with this purchase and highly recommend them for someone who wants maximal protection and doesn't need active noise reduction to allow for hearing other sounds. These muffs are now my primaries for using the power tools in my shop and when working outside. Yes, they can be warm so one may find them less than ideal on a hot summer day.One question I do have is that I know the cushions and cup material breaks down over time. I'm uncertain at present where I will get replacements (as I do with Dave Clark's or Bose products) when the time comes. For the cost of these, it will likely be worth while to simply get new ones. For now, I continue to use them and see how long they last.
